Peter Lifting the Lame Man

In Acts chapter 3, Peter went up to the temple and met a lame man at the gate called "Beautiful." This man was lame from his mother's womb. Peter said to the man,

“Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.“

Peter took him by the right hand, lifted him up, and he immediately began to walk. This is a very short summary of the story. However, the surprising part from this story is that" other people lived in good health, but why did God allow this person to live as a lame for such a long time?”

Peter Changed His Heart to Jesus

Peter was not a man of good faith or capable of making the lame man walk. Before Jesus was crucified, Peter denied Jesus three times. Because of this incident, Peter felt guilty and left the position as a disciple of Jesus. He went back to the Sea of Galilee to catch fish. Jesus went to find this Peter. When Peter came up to the land, Jesus burned fire of coals and baked fish and bread, and gave it to His disciples.

After breakfast, Jesus asked Peter. “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?"
“Yea, Lord. Thou knowest that I love thee,"

Jesus asked three times, and Peter answered the same three times. Every time Jesus said to Peter, “Feed my lamb.”

Peter was so surprised. He thought he did not deserve to be with Jesus because he denied Jesus-three times. That's why he tried to go back being a fisherman but Jesus led Peter to look after the church.

After that, Peter met with the lame man when he went up to the temple. Before, he had lived in his heart, but now that Jesus lived in him, so he wanted to heal the lame man. Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” and took him by his hand and great power was manifested.

The Lame Man Stood

The lame man was walking, and leaping, and praising God. All the people at the temple saw it, and they were filled with wonder and amazement as they gathered around. Peter began to preach the Word to them. “Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? Or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hat glorified his Son Jesus. "Because of Jesus, Peter preached the gospel through the healing of the lame man. It is recorded like this in Acts chapter 4. “Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed: and the number of the men was about five thousand,” (Acts 4:4)

Great Work of 5,000 People Saved

How did 5,000 people receive salvation in one day? As Peter went up to the temple, he met a man who had been lame from birth, and that precious work happened from the moment he lifted the lame man to stand. "Everyone else is walking healthy, but why can't I walk? Why did God give me this kind of difficulty?” This man had suffered as a lame for nearly 40 years. Not only was he able to be healed from his disease and walk and run, but be- cause of this, the miraculous work of 5,000 people receiving salvation was made possible. The more the but why can't I walk? Why did God give me this kind of difficulty? "This man had suffered as a lame for nearly 40 years. Not only was he able to be healed from his disease and walk and run, but because of this, the miraculous work of 5,000 people receiving salvation was made possible. The more the lame man thought about it, the more he could only be happy and thankful saying "How can God do such a precious work through me?”

When We Are Weak,
We Do Not Know But…

That is exactly how God works for us. We do not know why we are going through the suffering now However, God has prepared every- thing to work through us. We do not know what will happen in the future, but God knows everything and He prepares. Sometimes when we are weak, when we do not have strength, we do not know why we are like that, but everything goes according to God's plan because there is nothing He cannot do. Let's not complain about the temporary difficulties we have. God is trying to accomplish some great work through it. If we know His will and receive it with joy, I believe that difficulty will surely be a glorious work to fulfil the will of God.
