People Seeking for Jesus
When Jesus went to Capernaum by boat, many people gathered to listen to His words. One day, some people brought a paralytic to Him. Paralysis was a disease where a person couldn’t walk or move on their own. So, they brought him lying on a bed. Jesus saw their faith and said to them.
“Son, worry not, thy sins be forgiven thee.”
At that time, Pharisees, teachers of the law, and scribes were there. They were religious leaders who tried hard to keep and teach the law to the people. Some of the scribes thought to themselves.
“This man is blaspheming
(disrespectful about God - trespassing God’s authority as a human). He is not even God, how can He forgive sins?”
Jesus Who Healed the Paralytic
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them.
“Why do you have evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”
Then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, and take up your bed, and go into your house.”
The man rose up and walked to his own house. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God.
“Glory to God who had given such authority to man.”
When We Accept the Words of Jesus
We work hard to do our best in whatever we do. However, the results of our best efforts and what Jesus does are on different levels. When I was a student, I didn’t know how to do anything properly. However, as I started reading the Bible and contemplating the words of Jesus, I began to change. I read the Bible, over and over again. As I read it once, twice, ten times, twenty times and so on, I realized that the Bible wasn’t just a story, but the living words of Jesus, working miracles. At that moment, I thought, ‘If I believe and accept these words, they will live and work within me.’ Like other students, I was just a naive student who didn’t know anything. But when the words of Jesus touched my heart, I had peace, and I could feel my life changing as
I witnessed the work of Jesus.
Many people attend church, they worship, give offerings, pray, and ask for forgiveness out of formality. However, in their hearts, they feel distant from Jesus. So His words can’t resonate with them, and they often believe and trust in their own thoughts more. But when the words of Jesus entered my heart, they came alive and began to work in me. I realized that Jesus wasn’t just the Son of God who came to this earth two thousand years ago, but He also lives within me, working according to His words. It was truly amazing.
Let’s Talk with Jesus
Children, I want you to meet Jesus who healed the paralyzed man. Have a conversation with Him. Go out to Jesus and share your difficulties, ask for His help. ‘Jesus, I’m facing such and such difficulty, please help me.’ or ‘Jesus, I’m having problems with my friends. What should I do?’ Ask Jesus and listen to His opinion. I hope you will experience how Jesus guides you.
At first, it may not be easy, but as you ask Jesus and seek His will once and twice, you can become a little Jesus and live with His power. Then, you will be living the most blessed life in the world.
Jesus is with Us
What’s truly amazing is that the paralyzed man, suffering from a severe illness and unable to move, immediately stood up and walked when he met Jesus. It was Jesus who healed him, and that same Jesus is still with us today. When you go out to Jesus with faith, He begins to work in you, too. At first, it may not be easy to seek Him, thinking, ‘Would Jesus really work through someone like me?’ But as you face difficult situations once or twice, you will realize that some things are beyond your own strength. That’s when the thought of talking to Jesus, and asking for His help arises in your heart. When you earnestly pray to Jesus, you can experience Him truly listening to your prayers.
Until now, whenever you faced a problem, you probably tried to solve it your way or relied on your parents. But from now on, try taking it to Jesus when facing those difficulties. If you believe that Jesus works in you, your life will brighten, become holy, and overflow with God’s blessings.
